DEBATE AWARDS

Hanoi Debate Tournament 2024
My first major tournament I have ever attended. Here, as a newbie, I made my institution proud by securing the semi-final slot before losing to the champion team.
This is the major tournament that I take on a dual role of both a debater and an organizing staff. This deep involvement allowed me to understand how a competition is operated on a national scale, and ultimately, how I can organize a grander one.
Hanoi Debate Tournament 2025
My first major competition as an adjudicator. I have never tried this role before, but as I strive to gain a better grasp of debate and argumentation, becoming a judge happens to be a fresh path for me.
I managed to become the chair in the last outround and subsequently judged the quarterfinal. But what I harvested from the tournament was the invaluable experience and the opportunities that opened up to me as a result of my dynamic role.

Vietnam British-Parliamentary Championship

VBC was my most memorable tournament.

Nevertheless, my debate career is not without its troughs…

At NSDC 2024, we stopped at the octofinal, despite being the “flagship” team of the institution. This is only the second team I was competing outside Hanoi, hence the crushing pressure of the major championship wore us down.
NSDC 2025. I signed up as a judge after gaining initial success in this role in Hanoi Debate Tournament 2025. Although this tournament was among the biggest in the year, I spent only little time preparing for it as a result of me jampacking my schedule with other activities during the pre-tour. The failure hit me hard: it told me a lesson about how I could not have it both ways, and that sometimes success must accompany with trade-offs.

The setbacks remind me that achievements are not created overnight. But what counts is the courage to learn from the mistakes and look forward.
